New Beginnings!

I love this time of year – on the cusp of spring with fresh flowers and trees in bloom, about to burst. That’s how I feel inside! It has been a long cold winter in Boston and as someone who suffers from SAD, I am more than ready for summer months and sunshine to be here. I’m not sure how I ended up in Boston when I am such a sun lover. Each winter has me thinking more about my ideal place to live and for me that’s somewhere that’s sunny and warm year round. I’m tired of bundling up and feeling so cold I can’t feel parts of my body. I don’t mind the snow for a couple weeks but after that, I’m done! Can any of you relate?

In January I took a trip to LA to take advantage of their unseasonably warm winter. It’s like summer never ended in LA this winter and I love it! I stayed with a friend and spent every day at the pool while she was at work. It was the most beautiful vacation, clearly I needed it! Around 2pm every day I would venture out to find food and a fresh juice. She lives close to Whole Foods downtown so I would often head there for a healthy light lunch and beverage and to people watch! Whole Foods attracts an interesting crowd I could watch all day.

Aside from the sun, a trip highlight for me was Venice and Santa Monica and walking the boardwalk between the two. I did this a couple days while my friend was at work and it was just beautiful. I also loved walking in the sand along the ocean. There is something so calming, soothing and grounding about being by the ocean – it’s the best!

I am already planning my next trip this summer for another week with my friend. She also wants to visit Boston which will be a lot of fun. It’s really nice here in the summer so I’m looking forward to that. 🙂
