ALCOHOLIC SPIRIT

Lingering heavily in the putrid night air
a breath of hell's fury
pierces deeply into the hearts of dancers
They sway mindlessly to the endless din
of uninterrupted noise

Polka-dots born from flashing lights
hang like bats from smoke laden ceilings
Alive in a frenzied idiotic stupor
the drunk wanders aimlessly in the emptiness
of what an addict calls home

Man-made bottles of chemical poison
glaze the eyes of the undead
Inebriated by distilled and fermented brews
they are blinded to the harsh reality
and sink deeper into a world of illusion

In turbulent rivers of despair
their tortured souls languish alone
Even the strongest sink and drown
in obsessive pools of repulsion
Hell revisited, always for the last time

Needy of vulgarity and deceit
these drugged souls transform
into ugly master manipulators
'til their dehydrated bodies flat-line
in hospitals or back-street alleys

In a bar, alone at home
or bathing in gutters of separation
the spiralling descent of the alcoholic
is an endless destructive path
of self-imposed suffering

Hopelessness cuts a last thread
of respect and dignity
An impoverished soul clings
to the final breaths of existence
before expiring into nothingness

Once cherished and Loved
their traumatised families
drift away like fading suns
A legacy of intoxication
and wrong use of will forever prevails.
